One of the members of my archery club is a dear friend of mine. As it happens, he is also a bowyer.
He has been working for months on a special project which I have followed with great interest: the building of a horsebow made entirely out of natural materials.
Erwin not only has a great skill in making bows, he also loves to share his knowledge. So every now and then he took this project to the weekly archery training to explain how things were going, which difficulties he encountered and to just show what it takes to built a horsebow. It takes mostly time, exact measuring, understanding of wood, horn and sinew and a lot of patience.
Two weeks ago, it was nearly finished and he offered me to try it for it's first shots.
Well... That was a bit scary with all the work he had put in, but also really exiting!!
To make a long story short: he offered it to me. I am still very touched by this, knowing how much passion he put into this bow and that he really wanted me to have it. I'm going through a not so happy period a the moment, so this bow has become symbol of good things still being able to happen even when you think nothing will never be truly happy again.
Some specifications:
I'm still thinking of a name. If you have any suggestions, leave a message!
